The BEEP Base is not showing up in the device list, even though it has been activated with the push-button?

Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings to view the list of previously paired Bluetooth devices. Is the BEEPBASE device in this list? Then delete it (unpair/forget) and refresh the device list in the BEEP Base App.

When connecting with a device in the BEEP Base App, you might be prompted by iOS/Android to pair with the BEEP Base using a PIN-code and it's recommended that you decline this by pressing Cancel. The pairing will still be made by the BEEP Base App: pairing with the PIN code is redundant and may cause future connection attempts to fail.

I'm trying to connect to a BEEP base by using a shared account, or to a BEEP base that is shared with me in a Collaboration Group, but I cannot make a Bluetooth connection from the Base App?

Related to the question above: a previously saved Bluetooth pairing can interfere with your connection. This can happen when the BEEP Base is shared with another user who is in Bluetooth range and has a pairing saved in their phone's list of Bluetooth devices. Remove this pairing and retry.

Android-specific errors (most common with Android version 13 and earlier):

  • 0x08 or OS code 8 --- "Connection timeout" --- unable to connect to the beep base when selecting it in the beep base app.

Hold your phone closer to the beep base circuit board (the bluetooth transmitter is located on the right-hand side of the enclosure when looking at the microphone plug) and reconnect.

  • 0x13 or OS code 19 -- "Connection closed by client" --- the beep base is not listed in the app after activating it.

Make sure there are no active bluetooth connections on your phone before you try to connect to the beep base, and forget all previous BEEP Base pairings (see

The BEEP Base is not showing up in the device list, even though it has been activated with the push-button? above).

Disable your phone's bluetooth and close the beep base app, then reopen the beep base app and when asked to enable bluetooth, do so: the base should now be listed.

  • 0x16 or OS code 22 -- "Connection terminated by local host" --- unable to connect to the beep base when selecting it in the beep base app

"Un-pair" (or "forget") the paired beep base in your phone's bluetooth settings menu. Close the nRF Connect app if it is running in the background. Now close the beep base app and open it again. then reconnect to your beep base.
