The BEEP base sends data via LoRa. Standard, BEEP is using TTN (The Things Network), but you can also use other providers. 


For networks using the Thingspark stack you can also just connect. Examples of these networks are: KPN (NL), Digita (Fin) and Swisscom (CH).

 

To make use of the manual configuration of a network, your BEEP base needs firmware version 1.4.2 or higher. 

  • If you have BEEP base version 3.2 or higher you are ready to go, please start at step 2 in this manual.
  • If you have a lower BEEP base version start with step 1.

Step1: BEEP base firmware update (iOS)

  • Open the BEEP base app
  • Search for the BEEP base in the list and select it.
  • Select on  'Connect to device' *


  • Select 'Firmware'
  • Select the latest firmware version (not a test version)
  • Select 'Download and install'
  • After the update the BEEP Base will reboot.



Step 2: Add Lora keys to the BEEP base.

  • Open the BEEP base app and connect via  'Configure a new BEEP base' * 
  • Select the Lora menu and then select 'Manual configuration'


  • Copy the 3 codes you received in the 3 fields according to the field names. Press 'Enter' on your keyboard after enter each key. The app will place spaces between the characters.
  • Select 'Save'. The app will try to connect. The reach of LoRa will be better outside.
  • The BEEP base will receive a new name (BEEPBASE- + the last 4 characters of the Lora DEVEUI).If you already gave the BEEP base a name, this name will stay. 
  • In the BEEP app the status of the connection will be shown. It can take up to an hour before you will see data in the BEEP app.

   


Set up the LoRa network for Android

Step 1: See  BEEP base firmware update (Android)

Step 2: Add Lora keys to the BEEP base.

  • Open the BEEP base app and connect to the BEEP base by selecting it.
  • Select the BEEP base name and select 'Advanced Options'
  • Copy the 3 codes you received in the 3 fields according to the field names.
  • Select 'Update Lora' and confirm with 'Yes' to update the keys, The app will inform you about the status. 

  • Go one screen back and check the BEEP base name, the 'Lora Status' field will show you the status. The reach of Lora will be better outside. 
  • The BEEP base will receive a new name (BEEPBASE- + the last 4 characters of the Lora DEVEUI).If you already gave the BEEP base a name this name will stay. 
  • In the BEEP app the status of the connection will be shown. It can take up to an hour before you will see data in the BEEP app


* To activate Bluetooth on the BEEP base hold the magnet (the orange pilon) next to the microphone connector. If you can't connect make sure there is not other app or phone connected to the BEEP base. (i.e. Bluetooth settings --> forget.)

** If the BEEP base is already calibrated it will stay calibrates after the firmware update.
